Lori Stewart, SPHR®, SHRM-SCP, HCS, HR consulting partner at HKP, was a featured panelist at the Dubuque Area Chamber of Commerce’s Security Summit on March 1, 2018, in Dubuque, Iowa.
With 20 years of human capital management experience, Lori shared her insights about the hot topics of, “Trends in Workplace Harassment” and “Prevention, Protection and Correction: Best Practices and Strategies for Reducing Risk.” Joined by co-panelists Dan Wellik from The Friedman Group, Inc. and Darin Harmon from Kintzinger Harmon Konrardy, Lori offered her perspective on workplace harassment over the past few decades and what she is seeing in businesses today.
Lori shared, “We need to acknowledge the individuals who have bravely taken a stand and reported harassment long before the social media movements supported individuals in taking action. Every individual deserves the right to work in a tolerant and inclusive environment. As our workforce becomes more diversified, it is even more important to educate and train employers and employees on this critical subject. Education, zero tolerance and forbidding retaliation of any type, verbal or non-verbal, are all essential in creating and sustaining a healthy, harassment-free culture.”
